Tarot

Many folk use Tarot as a tool of divination. I use it as a tool of discernment. I want you to be able to look at a spread and consider the decisions you have in front of you. Are you where you want to be? Are you doing what you want to do? Are you ready to let go of old, tired coping mechanisms which have long ago out lived their usefulness in your life? What are you doing for the rest of your life?

I love reading for everyone, but I think I read best for those in transition. If you’re about to graduate, start a new job, go back to work, or finish a career, Peacemaker’s Tarot can help you.

You are filled with possibility. No matter what it is you choose to do next you can decide to do it with a full and peaceful heart. I’ve had great and thoughtful conversations with young folk starting out in the world, with people resuming a career after raising children, with those finding a career after losing a loved one, or with those ready to explore what comes after a long work life. If you’re recuperating and carrying scars from an accident or from war, if you’re transitioning from one gender to another, looking at the cards in this way can support you on your journey. You need a glimpse of Peace in your life. You need to know it, you need to show your triumph to the world.

Wait, you say you’re “only” going to babysit your son’s kids? What do you need to discern? You have the chance to open your grandchildren’s minds to Life’s incredible possibilities. And you have the opportunity to let go of the way you’ve learned to see the world and what happens here. Every juncture of our lives offers a sacred decision. Go ahead, take the opportunity, embrace the astonishing gifts you have to offer the world.

And what exactly does tarot have to do with this Peacemaking? There are many other valid and interesting styles of Tarot. But this way of reading and interpreting helps us do the things we want to do and become the people we want to become. It gives us models to emulate and self-defeating habits to put aside. It’s a way of reading, a way of critically reflecting on our lives, a way of developing our spiritual disciplines, and eventually a way of doing and becoming.

Peace is so many things. Peace is so many things to so many people. It can be that sweet soft exhale that says life is ok in this moment, even if just for this moment. It can be that painful coming to terms with something that went terribly wrong in our lives or the joyful certainty that life is as it’s meant to be. But Peace can be so much more. It can be a determined fight to right an injustice, to discover a cure for a debilitating disease and to ensure that the entire world has access, it can be joining the struggle to protect our beautiful Mother Earth. It can be an up-welling of acceptance and Love that sweeps across our world opening hearts and minds, forging friendships and understanding. Peace can be and we can be part of it.

Dream. Believe. Dare. Belong. Do. Become. Or as I hope: Dream Peace. Believe Peace. Dare Peace. Belong to Peace. Do Peace. Become Peace. And invite the world along.
